What you'll do

In the world of fast fashion and social media, we want to create a creative space for tweens and teens to gain the knowledge and skills to make their own fashion accessories in a safe face-to-face learning environment where they can create and connect with their like-minded young community.


  • Absolute Beginners: Intro to Sewing
  • Session 1: Introduction to Sewing Machines, Tools, and Materials
  • Session 2: Threading your machine and making bobbins and Starting SEWING Project 1: Scrunchies
  • Session 3: Hand Sewing, Embroidery, and Embellishments
  • Session 4: Project 2: Making your own textiles!
  • Session 5: Coming together! Final Project 3: Drawstring Pouch using textiles you’ve made either by embroidery or layering, Cricut vinyl decals etc.
  • Session 6: Open session, finishing off projects or practicing techniques learnt

Throughout the workshop, all materials and tools will be provided, and participants will have a folio to keep track of their progress. By the end, you will not only have honed your sewing skills but also have unique creations to take home and show off to your friends.Listed price is for all 6 Sessions.

Dates are the date listed then the following 5 consecutive same days following for a total of 6 sessions.

Term 3 2025: Tuesday 5 August (plus the following 5 Tuesdays 4pm to 5.30pm)

.If you are unsure if your tween or teen would be interested, they should try our taster class Sew Cool Accessories, which is a standalone workshop that shows them how to make a few small projects but doesn't go into depth of stitches, techniques, and sewing machine skills.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

Workshops, creative co-working, community. A space for you to get creative in a cozy environment for small group workshops, casual creative gatherings and co-working desks for work or play. Based in the heart of Chelsea, you can create all morning, go for a beach walk and skip back onto the train station in this central location in bayside. Bayside Makerspace is also available for hire to inspire to host your own workshops, private gatherings such as book clubs, meetings, craft-a-noons.
