About this event

The theme, The past informs the present and guides the future, echoes the 2025 National Reconciliation Week theme Bridging Now to Next: reflecting the ongoing connection between past, present and future.

This in-person event will feature keynote speakes, workshops and networking opportunities to support cultural integrity in ACT public education. Keynote address delivered by Indigenous educator Kylie Captain, workshops with Christian Maskey, Scott Gorringe, Leah Brideson, Aaron Chatfield, Sally Lawrence and many more and an Expo showcasing local organisations and resources supporting cultural integrity in education.

Please note there is a $20 registration fee. Schools will be invoiced prior to the event and consequently you need approval from your school prior to registering.

Frequently asked questions

Does the event include catering?

Morning tea and lunch will be provided. There will be some vegetarian and gluten free options available. If participants have specific dietary requirements they are encouraged to provide their own food.

What should I wear?

Neat and casual. Some workshops will require participants to be outdoors. Comfortable, warm clothing and footwear is recommended.

What should I do if I've registered and can no longer attend?

If you are unable to attend cancel your registration on Eventbrite before COB, Wednesday 30 July (2025) or organise someone else to go in your place. Any cancellations after this date or 'no shows' will not be eligible for a refund.

How do I pay for my ticket?

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Team will invoice schools prior to the event. A charge of $20 per attendee will apply. Schools are encouraged to use their cultural integrity funding for this purpose/event.

Will there be adequate parking?

No, there is limited parking at the school. Where possible, carpool or there are some excellent public transport options.

Is this event TQI accredited?

Yes this event is TQI accredited for 5 hours. In order to have your attendance verified for these hours, please be sure to have your registration number on hand.

Is there disability access?

There is disability parking and lifts to the upper level of the school.

What if I'm a relief teacher and unable to provide a work email for registration?

Use your personal email to register and secure your spot. Then contact us via [email protected].

I am a relief teacher not assigned to a school, do I need to pay a registration fee?

No, this event is free for casual relief staff.
