Your Meditation Teacher Karl Baker.
Karl Baker is the founder of Mindfulness Works – Australasia’s number one mindfulness training organisation.
Karl has been practising meditation for over 22 years. He has been a student of Stephen for much of that time. He has attended numerous multi-day silent meditation retreats and worked extensively one on one as a student of Jeremy Logan, a leading Insight Meditation teacher and counsellor, and has been a student in the Zen tradition.
Karl established Mindfulness Works, the largest mindfulness meditation training organisation in Australia and New Zealand. He designed and delivered a beginners mindfulness meditation course, which over 40,000 people have participated in. Karl leads a team of over fifty mindfulness meditation educators, including psychotherapists, counsellors and MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) teachers as part of the Mindfulness Works organisation.
Karl approach to mindfulness is centred around his own exploration of what it means to be radically self-accepting. He is a compassionate, authentic, and heartfelt teacher who values the precious opportunity to be authentic and vulnerable in a supportive environment.
Getting To Senses North Shore
Noosa North Shore Ferry
Arriving at Senses begins with a quick, scenic ferry ride across the Noosa River. Wind down the windows and enjoy the experience!
- Where to Go: Drive to the end of Moorindil Street in Tewantin and wait in line to board the car ferry.
- Boarding the ferry: A ferry attendant will guide you on to the ferry, help you park in the correct position and take your payment via your driver-side window.
- Ferry Fees: $15 one way, $30 return or a $130 pass for 10 trips (ideal for frequent or long-stay guests).
- Payment Options: EFTPOS and cash accepted.
- Duration: The ferry crossing takes just 5 minutes. You may have to wait in line initially to get on the ferry.
- On the ferry: You do not need to get out of your car to board, use or pay for the ferry.
- Timetable: Noosa North Shore Ferries operates 365 days a year and departs approx. every 10 minutes within the below operating hours:Sunday – Thursday 5:30 am till 10:20 pm
Friday & Saturdays 5.30 am till 12:20 am
Directions from the Ferry
After leaving the ferry, you’ll arrive at Senses within minutes, where your holiday truly begins.
Once you disembark from the ferry:
- Drive past the Noosa North Shore Tavern and Car Wash.
- Take the next right and follow the road to the Senses entrance.

Do I Need a 4WD?
You don’t need a four-wheel drive to reach Senses. The ferry and property are accessible for all vehicle types.

All our houses offer covered carports and plenty of surrounding parking space.
Frequently asked questions
All tickets and deposits are non-refundable, except in the unlikely event the retreat does not proceed, in which case you will be refunded in full.
There is a maximum of 11 people (not including the teacher) attending this retreat.
There will be one day of silence to deepen the meditation process on Saturday 19th from 6.45am until 5.00pm. During this time, speaking will still occur during teaching and group discussions. At all other times you are free to talk.
Fresh vegetarian meals are prepared by our on-site chef, Leanne Johnston from Simply Nourishing. If you have dietary requirements, please let us know in advance.
