Welcome to the Public Lecture at RMIT University featuring the esteemed Nobel Laureate Prof. Donna Strickland!

Professor Donna Strickland, a trailblazer in laser physics, was awarded the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics for her pioneering work in developing Chirped Pulse Amplification (CPA). This groundbreaking technique has revolutionized laser technology, enabling advancements in fields ranging from health to precision manufacturing.

Currently a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo, Canada, Professor Strickland continues to push the boundaries of ultrafast laser science. Her lecture will delve into the principles and applications of CPA, offering insights into how intense laser pulses interact with matter and the transformative impact of this technology on modern science and industry.

This Lecture is part of the Australian Institute of Physics celebration of the UNESCO Year of Quantum Science and Technology. It is hosted by RMIT University's Centre of Applied Quantum Technologies and the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence Optial Microcombs for Breakthrough Science.
