Night by the Fire 2025 celebrates this years NAIDOC theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy by inviting extraordinary guest speakers to share their stories.
The 2025 series will begin in July with artist Colleen Sam, a Kalkadoon(Kalkadunga) woman, visual artist and cultural educator whose work is deeplyrooted in truth-telling and intergenerational storytelling. Born in Mount Isaand now based in Brisbane, Colleen draws on her family's oral histories andcultural practices to share the resilience and survival of the Kalkadoon peopleduring and after the Frontier Wars.
Her exhibition, The unbroken spirit of the Kalkadoons, currently ondisplay at the State Library of Queensland, is a powerful tribute to herancestors and their enduring strength.
Joins us and enjoy freshly made damper and the heat of the camp fire,whilst listening to storytelling that has been practiced and passed downthrough generations of Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders.
