About Marina Lommerse

Conceived Lake Victoria, Tanganyika. Born Lincolnshire, England. Brought up in Canada. Based in Fremantle, Australia. My wanderlust has taken me around the world and through several careers.

Marina began as an Interior architect in Canada and the UK, then moved to Australia to establish the interior architecture department at Curtin University. Now she creates paintings, installations and sculptures inspired by her travels.

Marina Lommerse's art focuses on the natural world. She engages in research about place, memory and community to create responsive works. She studied Natural History illustration at the University of Newcastle, Australia and paint endemic species: wildflowers, fauna, and environments.

Over her residency at Terrace Greenhouse (28 May to 15 June 2025) Marina will be showcasing her love of the natural world inspired by her travels. Her studio clean-out sale will include elements from her eclectic creations over the last decade — paintings, sketches, installations and sculptural basketry.
