About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Join us for a guided walk through Piney Lakes Reserve with Rickeeta Walley, as we explore the Noongar season of Makuru, the season of fertility. This season, typically from June to July, is the coldest and wettest time of the year in the South West region. Makuru is also a time for a lot of animals to be pairing up in preparation for breeding in the coming season.

Meeting at the City of Melville EcoHub, your journey begins with a relaxed walk through the Reserve. There will be plenty of stops for yarning and questions, as Rickeeta shares insights on the cultural significance of the land, the six seasons, and the traditional uses of native plants.
