A supportive and calm environment, helping you enjoy being creative with your kids, knowing you don’t have to clean up afterwards!
Toddler and pre-school Art Playgroup in the Inner West of Melbourne.
• $21 first child, $16 siblings. (plus eventbrite fees)
• Suits kids 1-5 years old (younger siblings welcome and free).
We will be inside a private room in the Williamstown Library (The Book Room), and the decking area that is attached to it.
In this fun Friday session, we're making magic wands that you can take home!
What will we be doing?
We're making magic wands that you can take home!
This will be very sensory, hands on and the kids will have lots of choice.
There will be sticks, wool, string, ribbon, and plenty of things to glue on their wands.
This is one to let their imaginations run free and see what they come up with.
Assuming the weather isn't too cold, we will be both inside, and outside on the decking area. If it's too cold, we'll stay inside with the heater on!
We'll also be doing things like:
- scribbling and stamping their hearts out on plain butchers paper
- drawing on the windows with special window crayons
- general painting on tables
- colouring in some colouring in sheets
- drawing with chalk all over the outdoor decking area
- standing up with a kids easel outside
- and having lots of fun!
These sessions are more about learning to love art, than creating any final masterpiece. The kids are always encouraged to express themselves however they like and be creative, so if they are more interested in mixing all the coloured paint together and putting handprints on the paper than anything else, it's more than fine! They will still enjoy themselves. :)
Why should I come?
- It's lots of fun.
- Helps your child be creative and learn to love art.
- An opportunity to do something different.
- Meet new people – both you and your child.
- Helps build fine motor skills.
- Helps with pre-writing skills.
- Can help teach kids that mess is ok, and making mistakes is ok too.
- You don't have to think of an art activity to do at home.
- You don't have to clean up afterwards!
This is also a great way to give your kids the experience of painting and making lots of mess, if you the parent are a bit apprehensive about making that mess yourself at home. Come to my sessions and make the mess with me, keeping your house clean.
There is no pressure and a very easy going environment. There will be lots of scribbles, there will be smooshes of paint that you can't recognise as a picture, and there will be some great photos that you can take.
Extra info
- Snacks and breastfeeding welcome.
- I'll be taking photos throughout the morning and using them for marketing and promotional purposes. If you'd prefer your child is not included please simply let me know.
- We will be painting, so please dress accordingly!
- I have some art smocks, but only a limited amount. Depending on how many children attend, there may not be enough for all. If you have your own art smock please bring it along.
- If your child has any allergies please let me know, as I often use recycled fruit cartons etc.
- If the weather is too hot to go outside, or raining too heavily, we will have all our fun inside.

(in saying that, please bring snacks to help avoid hangry kids!)

- Up to 24 hours of class, if you send me through a request I can change your ticket to another upcoming pop-up class (if there are availabilities in your chosen replacement).

Frequently asked questions
1-5
Yes of course! Siblings under 1 year old can come along free of charge
This is a perfect experiment for them! Often kids who like to be clean at home, are fine to be covered in paint elsewhere, so it can be good expose them to mess. If it doesn't go as planned, we can clean their hands, or they can opt for crayons and pencils instead.
Some kids don't like drawing, and that's ok. But most kids like painting! And they like mess! And there are also other things like stamps and stickers. If your kid doesn't seem to like art, you can still attend. Afterall, these classes are all about teaching kids to love art.
Yes, you need to stay with your child. They will prefer it!
It's perfectly fine! You don't actually need to do anything, just come along and sit next to your child. You can encourage them, you can help them, but also, if you don't want to, you can just sit! You've come to the right place, because I'll be creative for you.
If there's room in the class you can absolutely bring a friend! Please tell them to book online if possible, or if they would like to simply drop-in, they can (as long as there is room). Generally I post on social media if there are spots available for drop-ins, or if a class is a sell out.
Most people coming to these classes are coming alone, so don't worry at all about that.
All materials will be supplied. I have some art smocks but if you have your own I'd suggest bring it along. Bring a snack in case your little one gets hungry.
