Join us for a powerful evening of truth-telling and conversation as Kalkadunga artist Colleen Sam sits down with Boe Spearim, host of the acclaimed Frontier War Stories podcast alongside State Library of Queensland's First Nations Curator Serene Fernando. Together, they will explore the personal and political dimensions of Colleen’s exhibition The unbroken spirit of the Kalkadoons, a finalist nominee in this year's Queensland Reconciliation Awards, and on display in slq Gallery, level 2, State Library of Queensland.

This event offers audiences a unique opportunity to hear directly from the artist about her family's connection as Kalkadunga Traditional Owners and Knowledge Holders, her creative process and motivations, and the journey behind bringing this deeply personal exhibition to life. From its beginnings at Logan Art Gallery to its presentation at State Library of Queensland, Colleen will share the challenges, joys and responsibilities of telling a First Nations story with cultural depth and resilience.

This event is for everyone — First Nations and non-Indigenous audiences, artists, educators, students, readers and truth-seekers alike — and will deepen your engagement with the exhibition and the living legacy of the Kalkadoon people.
