Program Highlights

This highly anticipated session combines a clinical ultrasound examination of a chosen body region, coupled with a unique cadaver anatomy session.



Anatomy Day Program Overview

  • Cadaver Anatomy Lower Limb sessions at CTEC at the University of WA
  • Ultrasound Didactic Sessions including Hip, Knee, Ankle and Foot. This session will be at the University Club of Western Australia

Free weekend parking available on University of WA site.


NB: For the Anatomical Labs– PPE such as gloves and gowns will be supplied for all attendees to use. Masks are not compulsory, but will be available for those that would like to don them.


One extra health and safety requirement, which needs to be abided by, is that all attendees to the human anatomy labs must wear shoes that fully enclose the foot; including the toes, heel, instep and top of the foot.

Meet the presenters:

Stephen Bird

AMS, AMS (Vascular), DMU, DMU (Vascular), MMedSon


Stephen is a general sonographer with 30 years of clinical experience. He holds a General and a Vascular Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (DMU) and a Masters of Medical Sonography from the University of South Australia.


He has a strong commitment to advancing the best practice of ultrasound around the world and he has been a member of the:

Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) Federal Council

Australian Sonographers Association (ASA) Federal Council

He has been the chairman of:

The Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)

The Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (DMU) Board of Examiners.

In 2002 Stephen received the Australian Sonographers Association (ASA) Pru Pratten Memorial Sonographer Achievement Award. In 2008 he was made an Honorary Fellow of the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM). In 2022 he was made a Life Member of the Australian Sonographers Association (ASA)


Stephen regularly teaches world in person in Australia and around the world, and is regular presenter at many ultrasound conferences. Stephen also has a very engaging ultrasound website called Bird Ultrasound, which is a valuble educational resouce for all ultrasound professionals.


Andrew Grant

AMS

Andrew Grant completed radiography training in 1992 and since then has ventured to multiple countries sharing his expertise in sonography and radiography.

Andrew has given a number of lectures on MSK, vascular, paediatrics and general anatomy in Australia and internationally.

Besides his skills in ultrasound imaging, Andrew also holds a commercial pilot’s license which he has used to fly in and out of remote communities, establishing a strong

presence as a flying sonographer.

Andrew has also worked for one of the top medical centres in western USA, UCLA Medical Centre, where he assisted in setting up the musculoskeletal ultrasound program. Andrew recently completed his Master of Medical Sonography at UniSA and now practices at I-Med East Melbourne Radiology where he is the Ultrasound Supervisor.

In 2023 Andrew was awarded the ASA's Victorian Sonographer of the Year.
