About this event
- Event lasts 7 hours
The Cancer Education Programs (CEP) are group based supportive care and education programs developed for those affected by cancer, their carers, families and friends. The programs provide information, education, practical strategies and the opportunity for participants to connect with others affected by cancer.
This one-day course trains facilitators to deliver both the Managing Cancer and Cancer Wellness programs to small groups of patients, carers and families affected by cancer.
CEP facilitator training enables participants to achieve the following learning outcomes:
- Understand the key concepts and benefits of the CEPs.
- Explore adult learning principles and key micro-facilitation techniques to enhance delivery.
- Recognise the importance of effective collaboration with a co-facilitator.
- Gain confidence in planning and delivering a CEP using provided resources.
- Discuss recruitment strategies and identify program resources for effective outreach
Once you complete training you will be endorsed as a Cancer Council Victoria CEP facilitator.
CEP facilitators are able to deliver the Cancer Council Victoria Cancer Education Programs within their health service and are supported by Cancer Council Victoria through program resources, tools and templates, access to the online platform, mentoring and de-briefing, monthly communication and professional development. Professional development include annual program planning workshops, the Education and Training showcase and masterclasses which are tailored to cover specific topics, concerns, challenges and updating of skills for facilitators.
NOTE:
- Cancer Council Victoria requires agreement by the course attendee and the attendee's health service to abide by the roles and responsibilities outlined in this Agreement prior to being trained as a Cancer Education Programs facilitator.
- The training course is available for Health Professionals aiming to host CCV CEP sessions within Victoria only. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions before you register.
